Often people come to the coaching relationship asking themselves whether they are truly living their own lives, moving to their own inner compass. Much of the time many of us don't. The reasons are endless. To accept and affect change takes courage and trust in the Unknown because by definition, change means facing the Unknown. Over the last year or so I have let go of some old and deeply held beliefs and inner mental structures that have supported me and kept me safe since I was a kid. In doing so, I have noticed that I trust what is Unknown inside me more easily. The ancient texts talk about opening to and becoming the Self or Unknown. Quite a journey, to discover who we really are. I can't say that I always enjoy the process but I am dedicated to its unfolding. I want to thank each of you who I have the privilege to be with, and to support your awakening.
In gratitude and love,
Sean Casey LeClaire

A STUDENT
A yoga and meditation student of mine died.
He had a loving and rebellious spirit and Parkinson’s disease. I love all my students and coaching clients and I paid extra attention to George because of how hard it was for him to do the yoga poses. George had a zest for life and a wonderful sense of humor. He never quit, even after the fourth brain surgery. Once during class he became so upset about the limitations of his body that he started pounding the carpeted floor. One moment he was in the pose called Seated Side Stretch, the next moment his fists were flying. I walked over and sat behind him. George pounded the floor with fury. I heard a knuckle snap. I wrapped my arms around his arms and hugged him. He began to cry, then shake and weep. He wept for a long time. The rest of the class sat still, breathing the best they could. I held him until he smiled.
I went to his wake. There were fifteen or so folks crowded into the room, where his body lay in an open casket. The mood was somber and serious. I walked up and knelt before George. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt with a screened message on the front. George’s final words to family and friends… I had brain surgery, what’s your excuse? I laughed so hard that I was escorted out of the funeral parlor by one of his humorless relatives. George was completely and unapologetically alive during his last years. The lesson in his dying was about how to truly live.

MISSED-ITS
I hear them all the time, hell
I used to be one—a Missed-It.
Like a mystic but a little
Different… My spirituality
This, my spirituality that. My guru
This, my guru that. My yoga teacher,
This, my yoga teacher that.
My meditation this, my meditation that.
My, my, my, watch out for those mine fields—
Nothing but the ego in drag.
Sooner or later, those my’s blow up
And you either see your Original face
Or you're just another
Missed-it.
